The higher the level, the more damage your explosions do. Every Gunlance has a Shelling Level that dictates how much damage the Shelling, Wyrmstake Cannon, and Wyvern's Fire does. Each type affects the Gunlances shelling, Wyrmstake Cannon, and Wyvern's Fire in different ways. There are three different types of Gunlances - Normal, Long, and Wide.
